A smooth-talking ex-sergeant, accustomed to the easygoing peacetime military of ten years ago, unexpectedly re-joins the fleet and finds himself trying to stop a coup from occurring.
The two hundred years’ (and counting) peace is a time of tranquility that hasn’t been seen since...well, never. Mankind in the Galactic Age had finally conquered war, so what was left for the military to do but drink and barbecue? That’s the kind of military that Sergeant R. Wilson Rogers lived in before he left the fleet to become a smuggler.
But it turns out that smuggling is hard. Like getting-arrested-for-dealing-with-pirates-and-forced-back-into-service kind of hard. It doesn’t seem so bad—the military was a perpetual tiki party anyway—but when Roger returns after only a year away, something has changed. These are soldiers—actual soldiers doing actual soldier things like preparing for a war that Rogers is sure doesn’t exist. Rogers vows to put a stop to all this nonsense—even if it means doing actual work.
With an experienced ear for military double-speak, Zieja has created a remarkable and sarcastic adventure.

The Galahad Archives Book Two: Into Deep Space is the second of three thrilling two-book omnibus editions in the Galahad Archives series for young adults by Dom Testa. The edition includes the novels The Cassini Code and The Dark Zone.
When the tail of the comet Bhaktul flicks through the Earth's atmosphere, deadly particles are left in its wake. Suddenly, mankind is confronted with a virus that devastates the adult population. Only those under the age of eighteen seem to be immune. A renowned scientist proposes a bold plan: to create a ship that will carry a crew of 251 teenagers to a home in a distant solar system. Two years later, the Galahad and its crew―none over the age of sixteen―is launched.
A small group of crew members begins lobbying for their return to Earth just as the ship enters the Kuiper Belt, the deadly minefield of asteroids that surrounds the solar system. It's up to sixteen-year-old commander Triana Martell to navigate the ship and convince her crew to forge ahead, but what awaits them on the other side of the asteroid belt could render her efforts futile.
The Comet’s Curse, now collected in The Galahad Archives Book One: Leaving Earth, is on the American Library Association’s Popular Paperback for Young Adults list.
“What began as a fairly straightforward tale of 251 teens shot into space to escape a ravaging disease on Earth became a deeper, broader, scarier, and more intellectually stimulating journey with every book.” ―Booklist, starred review, on the Galahad Archives series

A fantasy novel I am looking forward to that is also coming out during this time period:

“Stranger of Tempest: Book One of The God Fragments” by Tom Lloyd, to be published by Gollancz on June 16 (note: the US version of the release is apparently eBook only).

“Lynx is a mercenary with a sense of honour; a dying breed in the Riven Kingdom. Failed by the nation he served and weary of the skirmishes that plague the continent’s principalities, he walks the land in search of purpose. He wants for little so bodyguard work keeps his belly full and his mage-gun loaded. It might never bring a man fame or wealth, but he’s not forced to rely on others or kill without cause.

Little could compel Lynx to join a mercenary company, but he won’t turn his back on a kidnapped girl. At least the job seems simple enough; the mercenaries less stupid and vicious than most he’s met over the years.

So long as there are no surprises or hidden agendas along the way, it should work out fine.”
